Kotpad weaves take over a month for preparation. In the laps of gorgeous Eastern Ghats, this little town Kotpad is home to a community of weavers who perform magic with the yarns! Kotpad weaves are popular for their textured fabric that they get after boiling the yarns over and over again for a month, and the natural colours - maroon & coffee brown, which they procure from a 'aal' tree. It's a tedious process of rubbing yarns with colours, cowdung, mud, and boiling them, and drying them, and boiling them again until they get the desired result. The weaves also have beautiful, unique motifs like fish, tribal painting style women, animals, etc., distinguishing them from other weaves. With their woven fabric, they have created these absolutely comfortable and gorgeous masks.
